Presenting The Hill Chamber Players – Wind Quartet with:

Nancy Nourse is a Canadian educator, composer/arranger and flutist. She has published articles in the Journal of Aesthetic Education, Journal of Curriculum Studies, Canadian Music Educators Journal, Flutist Quarterly and Flute Focus. Special Interests include aesthetics, feminist issues, the flute in liturgy, learning styles, flute choirs and the history of the piccolo. She is the founder of Nourse Wind Publications, a teacher at Claude Watson School for the Arts in Toronto, principal flute in the Richmond Hill Philharmonic and contrabass flutist in Flute Street.

Wendy Bornstein graduated in Music Education and Education. She holds a Licentiate Performer’s Diploma from Trinity College London, of which she is the Canadian representative. She has taught both oboe and music theory for 50 years and just had a student graduate from Julliard. Wendy plays oboe and English Horn in Richmond Hill Philharmonic and North York Concert Orchestra. She is a very active chamber musician in the Willow Wind Quintet, The Hill Chamber Players and the Home Music Club of Toronto.

Jeffrey Densham is a woodwind doubler who is returning to performing after retiring from a 30 year career as a music educator. While studying music at Humber College he had the opportunity to perform under the direction of Bramwell Smith Jr., Ron Collier and Paul Read. Jeffrey has performed in many symphony orchestras, pit orchestras, bands and ensembles highlighted by the Stratford Festival, the Shaw Festival, The Canadian Tribute to Glen Miller, the Richmond Hill Philharmonic Orchestra, The Hill Chamber Players and Flute Street.

Velma Ko, violin/violist, began her violin and piano studies in Victoria, B.C. She obtained a Bachelor of Music degree from Brandon University under the tutelage of Frances Chaplin. Velma continued studying at Meadowmount School of Music in upper New York state and in Toronto. She received her Bachelor of Education from University of Western Ontario. She has been a violin teacher, a public school teacher and a freelance musician in many Canadian cities as well as session presenter at American String Teachers' Association conferences. She continues to be active as a freelance musician in orchestras and chamber music ensembles as well as being an avid member of many music organizations and volunteer for many senior organizations.

Special Appearance:

Dynamic, award-winning vocal artist Lilac Caña with her unique voice – ranging from Operatic, Broadway, Jazz, or Pop musical styles. She enjoyed performing with the Canadian Opera Company Chorus; in lead roles with Tapestry Music Theatre, Opera Mississauga, Brampton Lyric Opera, Velvet Curtain Productions; and as a concert soloist with numerous orchestras and choirs in Canada, the United States, Europe, and the Philippines.
