Event Details

Thin Edge New Music Collective (Toronto) and Ensemble Paramirabo (Montreal) team up to perform a dynamic concert program featuring Steve Reich’s Pulitzer prizewinning Double Sextet, Louis Andriessen’s politically charged Worker’s Union, and the World Premiere of a new work for all 12 musicians by Brian Harman (Toronto/Montreal). ‘Raging Against the Machine’ aims to establish meaningful connections between artists and organizations with distinct geographical, cultural and linguistic identities. This project is inspired by the driven rhythmic nature of both Reich and Andriessen’s compositions. Tonights program will also include the world premiere of new compositions written for each respective ensemble by Anna Höstman (Toronto) and Patrick Giguère (Montreal).

TENMC and Ensemble Paramirabo will bring ‘Raging Against the Machine’ to venues across Canada between February and April 2015 including performances at New Music Edmonton, New Works Calgary, University of Manitoba, Wilfrid Laurier University, Music on Main/Little Chamber Music Series that could in Vancouver, and Open Space Art Society in Victoria. This tour is generously supported by the Canada Council for the Arts.
