BILL DAVIS: THE LIFE OF AN EXTRAORDINARY PREMIER

William Davis was one of the most important premiers in Canadian history. The longest-serving premier of Ontario in the twentieth century, he won four elections and carried on a Tory dynasty in Ontario politics that would last a total of forty-two years. But he was also an indispensable ally of Pierre-Elliott Trudeau in the patriation of the Constitution, with its entrenched Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Bill Davis fut un des plus importants premiers ministres de l’histoire canadienne. Il eut le plus long mandat de Premier Ministre de l’Ontario du 20e siècle. Davis remporta 4 élections et participa à la dynastie Tory de la province de l’Ontario pendant 42 ans. Il fut aussi un allié indispensable de Pierre-Elliott Trudeau dans la canadianisation de la Constitution avec sa Charte des droits et libertés.
